จากงาน Apple Special Event, September 2009 ทาง Apple ได้เปิดตัว iPhone firmware เวอร์ชัน 3.1 พัฒนาความสามารถเพิ่มเติมหลายส่วนด้วยกัน ไอโฟนเฟิร์มแวร์เวอร์ชัน 3.1 สำหรับ iPhone มีขนาด 240.8 MB ไอโฟนเฟิร์มแวร์เวอร์ชัน 3.1 สำหรับ iPhone 3G มีขนาด 241.6 MB ส่วนไอโฟนเฟิร์มแวร์เวอร์ชัน 3.1 สำหรับ iPhone 3GS มีขนาด 306.1 MB ครับ การดาวน์โหลดที่แนะนำคือการดาวน์โหลดไอโฟนเฟิร์มแวร์ผ่านโปรแกรม iTunes ครับ หรือดาวน์โหลดจากลิงค์โดยตรงข้างล่างนี้ แล้วนำไปวางไว้ในไดเรกทอรี iPhone Software Updates บนเครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์ก็ได้เช่นเดียวกันครับ
